Use Hypnosis To Lose Weight In Houston

By D. Mitchell Lovette, CH, CI

Couple vacationing in Maui, Hawaii.Changed Thoughts = Changed Identity And Behavior

When working with people to help them lose weight as a Hypnotist, I first learn about how a person Identifies themself.  Now it’s true we all can easily say I am a boy or a girl.  After that things get a bit murky.

From our experiences after birth we begin to learn things.  Based on our response to situations, positive and negative we begin to form Identities.  Some of these identities benefit us, others distort who we really are or stand in the way of us enjoying the most successful life possible.  We often become what we think about the most.

From these identities we develop beliefs and habits which support who we are and from that our potential develops.  I believe because I was told from an early age that I was intelligent and bright that I excelled at school and became an Army Officer/Aviator at the tender age of 20.  Not an easy achievement. Thanks to my Elementary School Teachers!

If on the other hand a person is identified at the “fat one” in the family, what might be temporary extra pounds in childhood can easily become permanent later.  Who are we as children to “know more than” our parents or family when it comes to such serious matters.  The opinion of people we perceive as “important” or that “know more than me” can color our view of the world in many areas.

When it comes to extra weight…

What The Mind Believes, The Body Achieves

It’s true.  There are four parts of the mind that Hypnotists generally concern themselves with.  The Conscious mind, the Subconscious mind, the Unconscious or “Body Mind” and the Critical Factor.  Now they all are important, but for this discussion I will focus on the unconscious “body-mind”.

The unconscious “body-mind” is the part of us that controls all of our automatic body functions.  Our breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, salivation, hunger, need to sleep, digestion, etc, fall into this area.  The way our “body-mind” keeps us safe is through the fighting of infection, and reflexes if we encounter a situation which requires quick action.

The Body Mind Can Be Easily Influenced

For as much as it does for us, we know that the unconscious mind can be easily conditioned to respond to the simplest suggestions.

Many people, who have any exposure to modern psychology beliefs have heard of the salivation responses of  dogs when conditioned to the sound of a bell.

We ourselves can also easily experience physical hallucinations from certain visual or auditory stimulus.

Look at the picture to the right and think about biting down on a nice, tangy lemon and see if you have a salivation response.  I knew you would…

We can also use this characteristic to help us achieve goals in reshaping the body.

It Requires Extra Energy To Maintain An Over-weight Identity

Think about it.  Just carrying around the extra weight. is like living with a back-pack on you all the time.

The emotional energy that you expend every time you look in the mirror and compare the image to who you were before you gained the weight.

There is also extra energy required to pump your blood through more blood vessels which come with the increased weight.

Our Minds Are Always Looking For Ways To Bring Us To Stability

Our mind, when presented with the correct suggestions under hypnosis, has been observed to assist in weight loss because its function is to help us achieve Homeostasis or stability.   When properly worded suggestions and imagery are accepted the “drive” of the subconscious focuses on achieving the benefits of a reduced body size with the accompaniment of positive self-esteem.  This reduces the emotional energy “cost” of being overweight, while at the same time the person requires less effort physically to move and maintain the body.
